This workshop is about basic rights in special education and tools that limited English proficient (LEP) parents and service providers can use to advocate for appropriate special education services. The content is designed for social workers, care coordinators, patient navigators, and other direct service providers that support families to learn more about parents’ rights in the special education process and opportunities for parent participation. This webinar is open to all that are interested in participating and is directed especially to providers that work with families that have linguistic and cultural barriers to accessing special education services, as well as barriers stemming from immigrant parents’ concerns about increased immigration enforcement.
This workshop is part of MAC’s Proyecto Acceso a la Educación Especial, a project focusing on outreach, training, and legal assistance to Latino families that have linguistic and cultural barriers to accessing special education services.
